The next superintendent of the Pottsgrove School District will be expected to:

  • Collaborate, engage, and communicate clearly with all district and community stakeholders.
  • Lead with firmness and approachability, demonstrate a willingness to compromise when appropriate, and work effectively across diverse opinions and viewpoints.
  • Collaborate and partner with the school board, contributing knowledge, research and resources to support governance discussions as the board’s chief systems advisor.
  • Understand and respect the board’s role in decision-making, goal-setting, and long-range planning, and promote a decision-making approach that emphasizes meaningful board involvement.
  • Lead, manage, and coach district leaders, demonstrating leadership skills that motivate others to grow and assume leadership roles.
  • Build and sustain a strong management team and coordinate the integration of research-based decision-making practices.
  • Drive meaningful change by motivating staff and students, strengthening morale, inspiring enthusiasm, and maintaining strategic calm.
  • Assess district improvement needs across all support service areas and oversee major educational and operational initiatives, addressing the challenges inherent in complex projects.
  • Demonstrate strong school finance expertise, including securing federal and state funding, budgeting, cost-effectiveness strategies, and evaluating the fiscal impact of district initiatives in a resource-constrained environment.
  • Apply insight and experience to identify forward-thinking educational best practices aligned with the district’s mission, vision, and philosophy, while preparing students for future education and employment.

 

Pottsgrove School District is a public K–12 school district located in southeastern Pennsylvania, serving the townships of Lower Pottsgrove, Upper Pottsgrove, and West Pottsgrove. The district is part of Montgomery County Intermediate Unit 23 and encompasses approximately 15 square miles. Pottsgrove School District serves approximately 3,000 students and maintains a student–teacher ratio of 13:1.

 

Guided by its mission—to provide high-quality experiences that educate, engage, and empower students to achieve their fullest potential—the district operates five schools: three elementary schools serving grades K–2 and 3–5, one middle school for grades 6–8, and one high school for grades 9–12. Pottsgrove is also a member of the Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center, where approximately 160 district students are currently enrolled in career and technical education programs.

The salary is negotiable and competitive, based on education and experience. The successful candidate must possess a valid Pennsylvania Superintendent PK-12 Certificate.
